Gitano - Andalusian, gelding, 14 years old, bay - On behalf of the client: Gitano is a handsome Andalusian gelding with an athletic build and a rather calm temperament—the ideal Spanish partner for recreational riding.
Gitano has basic riding training and has jumped over cavaletti-height obstacles. He is motivated during dressage work, but he shows greater interest in new activities such as agility or calmness courses. A working equitation course might also be enjoyable for him.
He is experienced in cross-country riding and traffic. When riding out alone, he can be skittish under certain circumstances and requires a confident rider. Therefore, he is suitable for inexperienced riders only in the arena and indoor arena, but not in the cross-country. From the ground, he responds very sensitively to body language and enjoys cooperating.
Gitano has a people-oriented, honest character. However, he needs time and the necessary trust to open up and relax during grooming.
We are looking for a caregiver experienced with this breed who can respond to his personality and needs and who knows and appreciates the characteristics of this breed. As a gelding, he is well-socialized and lives in a single-sex herd. He currently lives in a paddock stall with daily access to the paddock. He would likely feel very comfortable in an open stable as well; he is very sociable. On some days, he needs a little time to “warm up” at the start of training; this has been medically cleared by a veterinarian. He has been with his current owners for three years now; he was certified at the time of purchase.
Of course, he has been regularly dewormed, vaccinated, given a full osteopathic check-up, and seen by the farrier (front shoes). His teeth have also been trimmed (most recently in April 2025).
All equipment (saddle, bridle, blankets) can be purchased along with him.
