A Reliable Leisure Companion - My gelding, Sonic, is for sale. He’s an 8-year-old English Thoroughbred and a real gem.
I train Sonic in dressage, but his true passion is cross-country riding. He also has a knack for jumping and free jumping, though I haven’t pursued that further beyond a little gymnastic jumping. As an alternative to riding, he also gets regular training on the double lunge and is familiar with working in a cavesson. Sonic is very eager to learn and open to trying new things—he loves interacting with “his” human!
This horse is looking for a balanced, refined rider; with you, he’ll stick with you through thick and thin! Whoever takes Sonic on should be eager to work with the horse—and, by extension, on themselves. This horse needs to be kept busy and mentally stimulated.
He has no bad habits, is accustomed to living in both mixed herds and all-stallion/gelding herds, and gets along well with both. He tends to be lower in the hierarchy.
Sonic is well-behaved at the farrier’s, goes out on trail rides wonderfully on his own, is mentally clear, and is a truly great “reliable horse.” When with his human, he also lets children and inexperienced riders handle him.
He has no health issues. He was given a thorough checkup by an osteopath about a month ago, and he’ll have his teeth worked on and be vaccinated in early October. When stressed, he tends to pace in his stall.
