Pretty Friesian gelding with the best character - Location: 53572 Unkel Douwe WT is an exceptionally handsome young Friesian gelding with a loving disposition, excellent manners, and top-notch pedigree. Born on April 26, 2024, this black horse currently stands at a height of approximately 165 cm and is expected to reach a final height of about 170 cm. He is descended from Alwin and has a very good Dutch pedigree. Even as a foal, he made a strong impression and received the 2024 Foal Award. His beautiful summer look is particularly striking, with reddish-brown tips in his mane and tail, giving him a very special charisma. But Douwe isn’t just a visual delight—he also captivates with his exceptionally sweet and people-oriented personality. He actively seeks closeness with his handler, quickly forms a close bond, and thoroughly enjoys every form of attention, grooming, and cuddles. In daily interactions, Douwe is easygoing, attentive, eager to learn, and fearless. He is very manageable and pleasant to work with, even for younger horse enthusiasts. When working, he wants to please and already shows a great deal of motivation and joy. During free lunging, he pays close attention to his handler’s commands and works attentively. He is accustomed to being stabled and goes out to pasture during the day. At night, he really appreciates his stall, but absolutely needs daily social contact with other horses. In the herd, he is exceptionally social and easygoing and gets along particularly well with other geldings. Grooming with his herd mates is a natural part of his routine. He receives hay ad libitum as well as a high-quality supply of minerals and individually tailored feed. Douwe is in excellent health. He is in top shape, regularly vaccinated, and dewormed. His teeth are checked and trimmed regularly. He is always very well-behaved and cooperative with both the farrier and the veterinarian. Douwe is already familiar with the basics of foal training; he is halter-trained, knows how to load into a trailer and ride in it, and walks calmly on leashes during outings. He is also comfortable with free work in the arena and has started ground work. He also enjoys lunging and small jumps. The gelding stands still during grooming and walks away from the herd on his own. He is a wonderful young horse for someone who wants to train their dream horse themselves—ideally with the help of a good trainer. It is with a heavy heart that we are giving Douwe up—exclusively to the very best home—due to a lack of time. His future owner should enjoy spending a lot of time with him, discovering new things with him every day, and appreciating his close, affectionate nature. A true horse close to our hearts with great potential.
