The lovely Flugfjödur is looking for a good home with caring people. She is easy to handle and is comfortable with everyday aspects of horse life, such as having her hooves trimmed and cared for, riding in and boarding a trailer, being groomed, being tied up, and going for walks; she is always attentive and willing to cooperate. She’s also comfortable around children and enjoys having her mane braided or simply being petted.
She was acquired as a breeding mare after having been lightly broken in and has been in the breeding program since 2024. Her training resumed in the fall. She is currently well-trained from the ground and is also accustomed to a rider’s weight and initial work under saddle. She shows great motivation and is always mindful when interacting with people. Typical of Icelandic horses, she is very sensitive in the mouth and needs a rider with a calm hand who can still instill confidence in her—especially given her limited experience. However, she is fundamentally very steady-nerved. In the long term, she is suitable as a leisure horse for experienced riders or to continue as a broodmare.
She is being offered for sale as a package together with her son Flugar, a son of Andvari frá Haukagilli (IS2020156138). The young colt is very trusting and curious, more of the laid-back type, and is also available for sale on his own—among other foals.
