Lovely, large leisure gelding 16 years old looking for a nice place! - Hello,
with a heavy heart I am looking for a new home for my 16-year-old very well-behaved Westphalian gelding due to work and time constraints. Cooper drew the clinic lot twice last year. Once he had a wound on his carpal joint that had to be flushed and the second time he cracked his hip bone. But that was all a while ago and his prognosis is excellent. He had a scintigraphy and apart from a tiny initial spavin finding on one side on the left, no other findings were diagnosed. The hip hump was "athroscopically" sealed and ground. Apart from the fact that not 100% of the fur has grown back over the shearing window, he has no restrictions and is walking great. We are currently training him again - also under saddle, so nothing stands in the way of getting to know him.
He is super nice to kids and dogs. He is well-behaved under saddle, even after days or weeks off, you can just sit on him with a halter and rope without any stress. He does not buck or mount.
He has been placed in show jumping up to medium (M) level and in dressage up to elementary (L) level. Due to his hips, he should NOT be jumping or doing pirouettes. As a leisure horse, however, he can be ridden without restriction if you don't knead him 7 days a week. He just doesn't want to do that any more. You are welcome to talk to the senior doctor at the clinic where he was treated. Nothing stands in the way of several visits/meetings etc. either. He doesn't like open stables, we tried that once. He needs his box at night with delicious hay and straw as well as muesli. Otherwise he is fit as a fiddle and is in work. 100% happy to be blacked and loaded. He loves riding out with a 2nd horse and is a bank. On his own he needs to know the trails first, otherwise he is fidgety and unrelaxed. He is social with other horses. He will not be sold as a trainer, school horse or to dealers. High-quality accessories in mint condition (e.g. fitted Prestige saddle, Bucas rugs etc.) can be taken over for an additional charge, as I am giving up riding and would then sell the items.
I could well imagine a mother-child team or a newcomer without competition ambitions... he is not a pure children's horse due to his size. He would like a caregiver who keeps him in good health and loves him as a family member. He is always in a good mood and is simply wonderful and special. That's why it's really difficult - but I only want the very best for him. In general, it would also be possible to adopt him to make sure he is the right partner for you.
