Looking for a loving home for my mare - For my 20-year-old mare, I’m looking for a loving home with people who will give her a comfortable retirement and appreciate her as an individual.
She is an older mare with mild osteoarthritis and an old tendon injury. She currently does not require any medication and has been out to pasture for about 1.5 years. Before that, she was ridden. Whether she can be ridden lightly again would have to be determined on a case-by-case basis, taking her health into consideration. Therefore, I would classify her as conditionally rideable. Overall, however, she is a robust horse that loves to move. She is very sensitive and skittish, tends to be low in the hierarchy, has always been kept in mixed herds, and is very people-oriented.
She is currently barefoot. If she is to be ridden again in the future, shoeing may need to be considered.
What matters most to me is that she ends up in good, responsible, and loving hands. I can easily imagine her as a companion horse or a leisure horse in a suitable home where her needs are met and she is simply allowed to be a horse.
I am specifically looking for a home with private individuals who prioritize her well-being above all else. Dealers and riding schools are excluded.
I’m hoping to find people who will care for an older horse with both heart and mind and who want to give her a wonderful home for the rest of her life.
If you’re seriously interested, I’d appreciate a personal message briefly introducing yourself and describing your planned living situation. I would place her with a protection agreement, as well as buyback and visitation rights.
