A gorgeous 7-year-old Paint Horse gelding - Joey is a 7-year-old, strikingly handsome Paint Horse gelding (height at the withers approx. 150 cm) who is sensitive but also has a strong personality, so he is not a horse for beginners or children.
He is fully rideable and has great gaits, although I should mention that his canter is still being developed and refined.
Since he is easily spooked, he needs an experienced, consistent rider who can instill a sense of security and calm in him.
Joey loves ground work and pole work, and we’ve started free work, which he absolutely loves.
He’s always attentive when handled; the farrier and vet are no problem. He’s been barefoot so far.
He’s skeptical of new things but is willing to learn anything if approached with calm and patience.
Joey tested positive for MIM (PSSM 2) and therefore has special needs (such as paying attention to his blanket and feed—all of which are manageable) that simply must be met. Because of this, he should also be placed in an open stable again. Within the herd, he tends to rank high.
I’m hoping to find him a home with an experienced horse person who will cater to his needs—preferably someone with experience with MIM (though this isn’t a requirement)—and who will love him as much as I do.
