The frequency and duration of the breaks depends on a number of factors, such as hoof condition, horse weight and surface. In the case of long-term wear for hoof diseases, it has proven to be better to change frequently - every 1 - 3 days - so that the soles are not compressed by more than 50%. The therapy soles should be cleaned briefly with water and a brush if necessary and left in a warm place during the break, as this speeds up the recovery process. If they are very dirty, a bath in curd soap or a washing machine cycle at max. 30° will help.
